C-CAT Co-founder Maureen Basnicki Receives Diamond Jubilee Medal from the Governor General “for advocating on behalf of Victims of Terror and for her enduring dialogue on terrorism”
On February 6, 2012, C-CAT Co-founder Maureen Basnicki received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada. The medal was awarded at Rideau Hall to 60 Canadians who have devoted themselves to the well-being of family, community and country. The Governor General presided over the ceremony, along with Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The recipients who are honoured by this medal have made Canada better,” said His Excellency. “Individually, they have improved the well-being of many in our communities, and together, they have helped to create a smarter, more caring nation. They represent a mosaic of individual experiences and accomplishments. Like Her Majesty, they inspire others to take up the call to service….”
C-CAT has also been invited by the Governor General as a partner organization to nominate outstanding individuals for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. 60,000 Jubilee Medals are to be presented by partner organizations nationwide within the next year.
